Quick: NBA suspends Telfair

The Oregonian's Jason Quick also told me the NBA has levied a two-game suspension against Sebastian Telfair for bringing a loaded gun onto the Blazers team plane. Here is the official word from the league:

NEW YORK, February 23, 2006 Thhe NBA announced today that Sebastian Telfair of the Portland Trail Blazers has been suspended for two games without pay for violating the NBA's firearms policy.

On February 11, following the Trail Blazers' game in Boston, it was discovered during a pre-flight check that Telfair had brought a gun on the Portland team plane. This conduct violates the NBA/NBPA collective bargaining agreement, which prohibits players from possessing a firearm while traveling on team or league business.
